Dubious scientific journals will publish anything for a price

Tom Spears, science reporter at the Ottawa Citizen newspaper, creates obviously fake research paper with a nonsensical mix of geology, medicine, and other unrelated fields, and exposes dubious "peer-reviewed" journals that will publish anything without reading it.

One journal initially refused the research paper, saying it was too short, but padding with long passages from a critique of architecture in Italy apparently fixed the problem.
